Retirement home living is all about supporting people in living their lives to the fullest. After all, the retirement years are meant to be fun, fulfilling and memorable; it’s also a time filled with purpose and meaning.
In our retirement homes, celebrating life, engaging in an active lifestyle, and enjoying social engagements with friends all help make every day special for residents like you. At the same time, we know that it’s also a time of life when you might need a little extra support. Much like an apartment or condo, different suite types – such as one-bedroom or two-bedroom suites, some with an in-suite kitchen or kitchenette, as well as studio suites – are available, depending on which type of retirement home living you prefer.

Crafted by Alberta Health Services and formerly known as Designated Supportive Living, this is for those needing funded hands-on daily assistance.
Continuing Care Home Type B provides funded assistance to those who qualify through Alberta Health Services and require assistance with daily tasks but do not require the skilled care provided at a long-term care residence. It allows you to enjoy privacy and independence while knowing your health and personal care supports are on-site when needed.
All of our residences offer licensed supportive living accommodations that allow us to provide convenient services such as 24-hour emergency response, three daily meals, weekly housekeeping, and medication management. Independent Living residents can also access supportive services, including scheduled care if needed. These offerings vary by residence. Additionally, Home and Community Care, provided by Alberta Health Services, is available in all of our residences.
Continuing Home Care Type B services are provided by Alberta Health Services and are available once you or your loved one have contacted and been assessed by a Case Manager.
Accommodation, meals, housekeeping, linen, and recreational services are provided. According to the plan of care, a higher level of personal care support is provided for scheduled and unscheduled care needs. A healthcare aide provides health care services on an unscheduled basis. Depending on the individual’s needs, scheduled professional care (nursing, rehabilitation therapy, etc.) will be coordinated by a Case Manager and performed by a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Health Care Aide.

When you or your loved one wishes to visit a retirement home for a short-term reason, we call it a short-term stay. Maybe you would like to get a feel for what retirement living is all about. Maybe your home is being renovated and you need a place to stay in the meantime. Or perhaps you are in town for a week visiting a loved one living in one of our retirement residences and wish to be close to them.
When you or a loved one is looking for a comfortable place to stay and receive support while a caregiver is away, perhaps on vacation, ill, in need of a short break, or you need some extra assistance after your own illness or surgery we call it respite care.
Both are classified officially as temporary stays – and no matter the circumstance, we are here to help you.
